Track one: build a chronological map
The municipal profile describes Neolithic pottery, ceramics from Han and Tang onward, and modern artistic work. A first visit need not memorize every dynasty. Notice changes in body, glaze, form and decoration, then choose one deeper thread such as Song Qingbai, Yuan blue-and-white, Ming-Qing imperial ware or modern art.
A popular object may rotate, undergo conservation or attract a queue. Treat it as one stop, not the sole purpose. Labels, gallery sequence and museum interpretation are more dependable than social-media nicknames.
Track two: follow an object into its process
For each piece, ask which clay and glaze were used, how it was formed, whether decoration came before or after glazing, and which kiln and atmosphere fired it. Carry those observations into a later wheel, blue-and-white painting or kiln-site visit so the object becomes a craft reference.
Do not touch cases or objects, and keep flash and selfie sticks from obstructing the route. Check museum rules before sketching or professional photography.
Track three: return ceramics to the city
The collection represents a millennium of local production, while ceramics also connect with raw materials, river transport, imperial administration, trade, industrialization and artists. Continue to Taoyangli, Hutian, Sanlümiao Wharf, Taoxichuan or a studio according to interest, limiting one day to one or two extensions.
