FIRST-TIMER'S FIELD GUIDE
A practical local checklist for choosing sights, neighborhoods, food and transport—without rushing from one photo stop to the next.
Taoyangli Imperial Kiln Site · Imperial Kiln Museum · Ancient Kiln Folk Customs Area · Bingding Wood Kiln
Jingdezhen China Ceramics Museum · the viral ‘Silent Buddha’ sculpture · Porcelain Palace
Taoxichuan Night Market · Sculpture Porcelain Factory · Taoyang New Village · Fuzhou Lane
Sanbao Village · Fuliang Ancient County Office or Yaoli Ancient Town · a pottery studio for clay DIY
WHERE TO STAY
The most convenient base for Fuzhou Lane, the Imperial Kiln Museum, food and city transport.
Best for creative markets, Sculpture Porcelain Factory and travelers with a little more room in the budget.
Quiet, scenic and full of distinctive guesthouses; ideal for slow travel, but less convenient without a car.
LOCAL FOOD SHORTLIST
The center is compact. E-bikes are often around RMB 30/day and taxis work well, though demand rises at peak times. Choose a private car for Sanbao, Yaoli and multi-stop days.
The Imperial Kiln Museum and China Ceramics Museum are generally free, but timed reservations can sell out on holidays. Book through official channels in advance.
Compare before buying. Sculpture Porcelain Factory and Taoyang New Village often offer better value; Taoxichuan is curated but usually pricier. Ask before bargaining.
Only collect fragments or seconds where the owner expressly permits it. Do not enter production areas or remove property; wear gloves, watch for sharp edges and follow site rules.
