Mountainous Fuliang, flatter southern Leping and the basin city center need different footwear, layers and timing. One outfit and one timetable rarely fit all three.

City center: light, but ready for stone and heat

The municipal profile places central Jingdezhen in a basin. Taoyangli, old lanes and Taoxichuan can involve long walks, stone surfaces and open plazas. Non-slip comfortable shoes, compact rain protection, water and a power bank are more useful than moving a large suitcase through them.

Museums and studios may feel different from outdoors, so carry a removable light layer. Keep passport, reservations and payment backup in a day bag, not a vehicle.

Fuliang: allow for mountains and weather

The official profile describes much of Fuliang as an extension of southern Anhui mountains. For Yaoli, Gaoling or rural routes, bring better-grip shoes, a light rain layer, insect protection and a small first-aid kit, with margin for mist, rain, curves and earlier return.

Equipment is never permission to enter a closed mountain road, valley or undeveloped area. Check weather, geological risk, attraction and transport notices that day.

Leping: flatter does not mean risk-free

The profile describes much of southern Leping as part of the Poyang Lake plain, but named attractions such as Hongyan and the stone forest may still contain caves, rock, stairs or exposed ground. Pack for the actual venue, not the county average.

Secure day bags separately from ceramics in a private car and count documents, medicines and works before returning. A multilingual guide may verify place names and rules; packing advice cannot replace personal health judgment.
