A new Jiangxi enforcement report shows that a hotel may continue using an old star label after its rating is withdrawn. Overseas guests should verify official rating, platform labels, room facts and foreign-guest handling separately.

A star is not a platform adjective

A September 17 Jiangxi enforcement report describes a hotel that kept using four-star claims after the qualification was withdrawn. Do not rely on labels such as deluxe, upscale or a row of graphic stars. Ask whether the official tourist-hotel rating is currently valid and retain the written reply.

A rating also does not guarantee the size, view, bed or renovation status of a particular room. Verify the property's status and the booked room as two separate checklists.

Six checks for an international guest

Confirm passport check-in, name spelling, check-in and checkout time, bed and extra-bed details, breakfast count and hours, deposit and cancellation. For a pool, accessibility, laundry or luggage storage, ask whether it is operating that day, who may use it and what it costs.

Save the hotel's Chinese name, full address and front-desk number, plus screenshots of the room, facilities, price and messages. Resolve any conflict between a platform label and hotel reply while free cancellation remains available.

If reality differs

Photograph signage, the room number and actual facilities; keep the booking, payment, messages and invoice before requesting a written remedy from the hotel or platform. Evidence is more useful than an unsupported verbal dispute.

A multilingual guide may interpret but cannot consent to a room change or sign settlement for the guest. Use the platform, 12345 or the competent regulator for alleged misrepresentation or unresolved consumer disputes.
