A July 9 Beijing traffic-police FAQ says an overseas licence alone does not allow driving in mainland China; short-stay visitors may apply for temporary permission. Confirm the local application process before reserving a Jingdezhen rental.

Verify driving permission first

The official FAQ covers foreign, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan licences and identifies temporary permission as an option for short stays. It is not a Jingdezhen application checklist. A translated licence or rental booking should not be treated as driving permission.

Ask Jingdezhen traffic police which process fits your entry status, licence class and stay. This guide does not supply unverified local fees, processing times or office addresses.

Set out rental terms before paying

Ask the rental company which documents it accepts and confirm deposits, insurance, excess, collection, return and one-way terms. Submit personal document numbers only through a trustworthy formal channel.

Clarify overtime, parking, tolls, accident contacts and damage records. Photograph the vehicle at collection and retain the order. These are planning suggestions, not a replacement for the rental contract.

Compare by the pace of your trip

For Sanbao, studio appointments and rural visits, compare parking, walking, waiting and return time. A driver may be useful when permission cannot be arranged in time or you prefer not to handle unfamiliar roads.

Transport does not automatically include guiding or interpretation. Confirm scope, availability and fees if you need an English-speaking guide who also drives and helps translate on site.
